Using non-IB offers in IB interviews/recruiting
I know that it's typical and to your advantage to leverage outstanding IB offers to other banks during interview/recruiting season, but does it help at all if the offer is for non-IB?
I have a very good chance of receiving a FT offer from a investment management firm (focuses on fixed income products, $5 bil AUM), due to a family friend who has a lot of influence in the interviewing process. My question is, will an offer from a firm like this hold any weight when talking with MM IBs?
Otherwise I have no incentive to apply and interview.
Apply and interview as a backup plan if you want (I would), but do not mention this is your ib interviews. It just shows a lack of commitment. My bank has all resumes from recruiting for the past few years stored on its sharedrive. "Not sure if fully committed" is the most common negative comment on them.
