The team started at WP as special situations and carved out a niche, focusing on structured equity and minority equity deals. Competes with Apollo Hybrid Value, Blackstone TacOps, and KKR Strategic Investments.

Unlike other MF, the team isn’t squeezed in between competing credit and equity arms.  They source deals both in-team and those that don’t quite fit into the flagship fund, making them generalists. They’ve done tech (DriveCentric and Nord), industrials (Excelitas), healthcare (MB2), financials (MIAX), and energy (Service Compression).

The early days for the team had lots of growing pains. But as the team finished hiring seniors and worked more across other WP teams, they’ve ironed it out. The team does most deal diligence in-team and associates have exposure across the whole deal process now.

WLB and comp are consistent with the rest of WP, with their WLB being average compared to other WP groups (not the worst and not the best).
