What are good questions to ask senior level bankers?

I've done many informational interviews with Analysts, Associates, and VP's but have not done any with MD's. I have an informational interview coming up with an MD, what are good and interesting questions to ask senior level bankers in informational interviews?

1) Nice suspenders 
2) I heard your bank just had to pay a $14bn fine, how do you feel about not being paid any bonuses this year (if it's DB)?
3) what's your favourite excel function?

Just kidding - you would be shocked though, MDs are real human beings too.

The key is research research research

get him to talk about his deals and the industry he's seeing in his side of the business (if he's a debt guy, it's quite probable that he's concerned with BASEL III regulation affecting cost of capital etc.)
get him to talk about his views on his bank and ask him advice on your o

Ask him any information you can't easily find by googling. Try to connect with him as a person  first rather than a textbook you're just looking to siphon information from. He'll be a much more valuable contact down the road that way and he won't mind if you reach back out. If he's a big name, or well known tons of kids trying to break into IB/PE will set up meetings with him. Be different (in a good way) - offer to pay for his coffee. Tell him thanks for even taking the time to read your email/answer your call, nevermind meeting you.

What to ask in networking with seniors at megafund? (Originally Posted: 06/24/2016)

I spent two years in general finance program (back/middle-office) at bulge bracket, then transitioned to real estate investment banking group at smaller bank (not middle market). I have few deal experiences, but I want to be at the core of investment process rather than being on the sideline. I have reached out to seniors at megafunds and scheduled networking calls in coming weeks.

My goal is to build good network and have them helping me out get a private equity job in the firm.
