I've done many informational interviews with Analysts, Associates, and VP's but have not done any with MD's. I have an informational interview coming up with an MD, what are good and interesting questions to ask senior level bankers in informational interviews?

The key is research research research
There have been many threads on this already. You need to have a conversation with the senior banker. Do some research into his/her industry and bank beforehand and come ready to discuss what you found. Ask follow-up questions that are related to what the senior banker just said- don't just rattle off a list of questions. Ask for advice.

Through some networking of mine, I now have a TAS Senior's phone number and email address for me to set up an informational meeting with him (works at a non-B4 auditing firm, think Grant Thornton).
For context: I've mainly targeted TAS because I've heard it said that it can be a great entry-point into IB, and this would be a more realistic option for me whose background isn't the strongest (sophomore in WEurope non-target, accounting internship last year, boutique IB internship this summer). I'd hoped I could ""settle"" with a TAS role as my customary end-of-studies internship, and that they'd bring me back for a full-time offer. Know however that TAS in Europe is also quite prestigious, and I'll need all the help I can get to afford being let in there. (By the way this interview probably won't lead to an real interview since I'm only a sophomore, and they only take interns that are in the 4th year).
From my understanding of TAS, the detailed due-diligence done there is a definite plus for IB and even PE, the modelling they carry out is as well respected as IB-modelling, and they get front-row seats in seeing mergers happen. So while I'm ready to display my interest in TAS and why it would fit me perfectly, here is what I'm unsure about for the call.
1) How should I answer if I got asked why TAS and not IB?... After all, IB is TAS with the prestige and money-incentives some would say, so even I don't know how I would answer that. I wouldn't want to give the Senior a "beggars can't be choosers" type answer, which would contradict everything I've said about loving TAS until now. So do you guys know any pros of TAS over IB that I could throw at him, and how I could justify moving from an IB internship to a TAS role?
2) What should I say if he proposes that I do Audit for a few years before joining the TAS team? Seeing as I'm a non-target, with only decent credentials, I don't see how this wouldn't be his first answer when I'd start asking about how to get the role. I can't really blame him for having at answer, and not that I have anything against auditing, but I know I'd despair if I knew I had to sulk into audit for 2/3 years before accessing TAS, only to wait again for IB. Do you guys know any arguments against doing auditing that don't bash the profession itself, seeing as how 90% of his colleagues would be auditors?
3) What questions do you people think I might ask that aren't just repeating the usual ones ("what's your average day like", "how can I prepare for the interview questions", "what's the ideal candidate")? It all comes down to asking the best questions for me to know how best to position myself, and getting him to say what would be the best internships to have beforehand, Specifically about the recruiting process because of how unforgiving it is.

What to ask in networking with seniors at megafund? (Originally Posted: 06/24/2016)
I spent two years in general finance program (back/middle-office) at bulge bracket, then transitioned to real estate investment banking group at smaller bank (not middle market). I have few deal experiences, but I want to be at the core of investment process rather than being on the sideline. I have reached out to seniors at megafunds and scheduled networking calls in coming weeks.
My goal is to build good network and have them helping me out get a private equity job in the firm. But what should I ask during the call or how should I lead the call? He/she probably knows what I want, but I just have to ask for what I want in polite way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am planning to introduce how and why I made transition to banking, and why I want to make into buyside with few deal experience overviews. What would be a great lead into ask for what I want (job)?
Any advice, direction, help would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, I want or people in my situation want them to help us getting our resume in front of the team or set up unterview for an opening. If I ask for these, wouldn't it be too aggressive?

I managed to connect and will set up a meeting between now and next week with a guy who has written one of the better text books out there on PE. I don't have any working banking experience, but he's also a former senior analyst for a BB shop.
How should I approach the conversation? Any suggestions on questions would be great. I can also post the answers here if anyone cares.
