US 2027 SA IB worried about background check

Looking to hear from someone who has been through a background check for a SA position at a US IB firm. I received my offer early this year but have not yet heard from the firm regarding a background check which if I’m not mistaken is routine. I have a clean record but have one job in which the dates I provided may be hard to confirm as it was a highly informal internship. What do the firms check regarding past work experience? How far back do they go? What is satisfactory evidence? When does the background check kick off and do I get to film a form then, if so can I alter my dates so there may be a mismatch from submitted CV?

Agree as long as the dates you're saying are the truth, you should be fine. Might need to go through some hoops and provide additional documentation and they'll likely ask for a reference to call and confirm the dates (so would reach out to that person now and ask if you can give their contact info so that that's ready). But it would be unheard of to actually not pass the background check unless they explicitly discover the dates you gave are wrong, and even then it's obviously not a great situation but i would think you can possibly amend the mistake

What is the process normally like do they immediately ask for phone number and name and just call and that is enough? What do I provide once the background check starts? If you have undergone a similar process all info would be much appreciated!
