What backups are appropriate in my case?
I'm at a non-target, just finishing up my sophomore year with around 3.2-3.4 cumulative gpa. If I can't manage to network into regional boutiques, I am pretty sure I will have to use the MBA route into banking. So far my work experience includes doing ibd at an unknown 3-person firm with bad dealflow. For the upcoming summer I currently have no offers and likely won't attain anything relevant.
I need to know, other than increasing my grades ASAP, what type of internship should I be pursuing for junior summer, and for full-time? I will not get any 1st rounds for front-office positions, but I will want to set myself up banking after MBA.
It is clear that the 3.2-3.4 will be looked down upon by front office, but how much will it hurt me while trying to network into "backup" jobs? What do you guys think? Also, is it worth writing the GMAT some time in the upcoming year or so?
