What confirmation have you received about your job?

I got a job in a specialized finance role within a big bank. Obviously it's not as prestigious or as heavily recruited as banking or S&T. The reason I mention this is because if shit hits the fan I think I'll be cut first before the bigger banking or S&T programs.

I signed the full time contract offer last month and have been told to just wait for an email to register my info on the bank's intra-net and proceed forward to start FT this summer. But seeing how many people are getting the ax these days, I really don't think I can sleep until the day I start work.

Just wondering how everyone else who's lucky enough to get an offer is surviving through this terrifying period. What else have you guys gotten or done after signing the offer letter? Are you calling HR everyday to make sure your offer letter didn't get shredded?

There's banks still making money in Europe? News to me.

To the OP (and any other nervous wrecks sitting on job offers:

I got the exact same offer to return full time (for a rotational S&T program at a BB) as several other of my fellow interns from the summer but requested to start early following my graduation in December (newsflash to this website; not everyone has to the resources or desire to go travel to Europe for 5 months). Anyway, while I just started, my fellow once-interns and soon to be coworkers have yet to hear a word from HR about the on-boarding process, something I began back in November. Bottom line; if there was any intention not honor their offers, my offer, and now job, would be no safer despite the fact that I've already started. Point being, don't read into this delay, HR is just taking their time. Honestly, there's just no need to take any further steps 6 months in advance. I wouldn't be shocked if you didn't hear a word until March but don't let it get you down. If anything, right now no news is more than likely good news.

That said, to all those sitting on offers. Just sit tight and try to relax. Probably not the worst idea to keep up your networking and try to have backup plans, but really, just focus on enjoying your last semester at school. You'll hear hundreds of times how it's the best time of your life, but never fully appreciate it til its gone.
