What do you expect from a prospective monkey?
Hey guys... I was on the phone with a banker today and I was asking her a question:
What technical stuff do you expect your candidate to know? (Besides DCF because everyone knows that DCF is a must)
She told me that I needed to really understand the concepts, but no more. She seemed really reluctant to take my phone call so we didn't speak for too long.
Any insights? I'd really appreciate.
Thanks a lot.
To my understanding, financial statement analysis, valuation concepts (DCF, public comps, precedent transactions), macroeconomic concepts (effects of various events, policies on different industries) as well as the ability to qualitatively analyse a company's prospects are key. This is based off of my conversations with bankers, not my experience.
