Are the boutiques like qatalyst and centerview still paying? I heard those analysts wreck shop when it comes to pay, but maybe that's just base?

 

Centerview is paying quite well. A friend of mine (1st year associate) just bought himself a $4m condo.

Isn't the general rule of thumb you can afford a mortgage value of 3-5x annual salary? How is he making ~$1mm as a first year associate (or does he have supplemental income)?
