What Firms (Sell-side or Buy-side) Would/Wouldn't You Take an Analyst Role at BDT & MSD Over?
Basically what the title says—I'm confused because there seem to be a lot of mixed opinions about this shop on the forum. They recruit super early at my school, and once you lock in an offer, you can’t really field other offers or go through other recruitment processes at all. So I'm here wondering if I'm "missing out" if I were to hypothetically take it. If we’re just optimizing for comp/exits/deal flow/culture/WLB like everyone else on here, is it worth it? What kind of doors does it open? For example, would you take over a top tier BB/EB, mid tier BB, or over no IB role at all? Also, what about in comparison to another UMM analyst role like GTCR? Would love to hear thoughts—I'm at a semi-target if that is helpful.
Its good experience and u cant rlly go wrong with any. The issues are more relevant at ASO+. Its good culture good pay and analysts do get good exits. It just comes down to are you interested in working with family businesses. Top BB/EB and PE analyst programs all have issues of their own FWIW.
What types of comp and exits? Like what type of IB firm would it be comparable to? I feel like I’m having trouble finding info about exits on LinkedIn or comp?
They have sent ppl to other MFPE and top hedge funds. Also pretty decent bschool placing. It’s very different than IB so hard to have a true comparable. Network with the ppl to see if u vibe with them or not. U should recruit for everything given nothing is guaranteed at an SA level.
