What happens after a SA stint

Hi fellow primates,

I'm thinking about potentially applying to i-banking positions outside the bank where I'm currently doing my summer internship at. However I am worried that the SA return offer would have a deadline that precedes lateral hire application/ interview rounds. Could anybody help me understand the timeline of the FT recruiting process? And most importantly, how can I buy time to shop around without offending the bank where I'm interning for this summer?
