What happens to the intl students who don't win the H1B lottery?

As an international student entering BB IBD for full time, I'm curious what happens to those who don't win the H1B lottery. Are they given the option to move to the London or Asia office? If they do move to those offices, do they get a chance to return to the NYC office? How does this process all work?

If you're in a LatAm group, you might get restaffed to Mexico, Santiago or Sao P for 1 year before coming back with the L Visa.

I heard they fired all the guys at JPM who didn't make it in the lottery... This year things are getting bad everywhere.

Think about making it legal soon :)

Which year was this? This year alone, 3 of my buddies at JPM are moving to London and Toronto/Calgary offices.

Nope. Not true.

some friends were moved to london or HK if the lottery system did not work out.

whether you are given the option to move back or not will come down to opportunity / headcount; do not count on it being based on the fact that you had to originally move for Visa issues (if someone has had experience to the contrary it would be helpful to hear). Keep in mind, you can come back on a L1 (rather than a H1B) as an experienced hire
