What is a fair fee for indepedent buyside advisory work? An operator/CEO is looking for somebody to help with DD on a rollup strategy, transaction size $1-5mm. Just left a job in PE, so this would be something until I land another role.

I'd still go for 100k. Any less is pointless. An interim contractor roles can be 750-1000 a day. Take 3-6 months time frame, you're around there.
