What is a good freshman Internship

Does it matter how big the firm is or what your role is? Do bbs like people with “international” experience ie. internship in China or do they look down upon it? Did anyone do almost nothing their freshman summer and still became an analyst?

I would go for something in the US over China. Second the recommendation for a small boutique somewhere, maybe PWM. Anything that says you're into finance (besides bank teller) is a good start. Study abroad is also a very common choice and good topic of conversation in interviews.

Lots of people do nothing their freshman summer, but if you've never had a job and have nothing on your resume then recruiting is going to be tough. If you can get off-cycle internships during the school year, you can take the summer off more easily

Anything near your home that pays and is somewhat related to finance. Things like PWM, boutique IB and Corp Fin can wait till sophomore year without much of an effect on recruiting.Utilize personal connections or network within your community.
