What is Equity Syndication?

What exactly is equity syndication? I recently met a VP from a large bank in NYC area, and the way he explained the role was basically an information manager for clients, as well as execution of the IPO process. The VP seemed to really like me and is pushing my resume around. Could anyone possibly elaborate? Is it considered a traditional "IB" job? What are the exit ops, hours, etc like? What kinds of questions should I expect if I ended up getting an interview?

You will be working within invesment banking but not in the traditional sense. The syndicate sits on the ECM desk, and is basically the middle group between IB and S&T. In terms of hours, M&A > ECM > Syndicate. You should look at the syndicate as a long term career as far as exit ops go. I'm sure you could lateral to ECM, possibly M&A, but you'll have to practice your modeling on the side as you will not be building models while in the syndicate. FYI this describes an equity syndicate at a MM where a good friend of mine works. I'm sure the job will vary a bit throughout the street

But its a cool gig. Small team, exposure, decent work life balance
