What is JPM CIB Special Credits?

What does the group do? Is it a front/middle/back office role? How does this compare to regular investment banking and how are exits? Have been seeing this group on the internet a few times and don’t know what they do, and would appreciate any insight!

They primarily do loan workouts for the firm. Front office role as they need to work directly with clients. They primarily serve to stop the firm from losing more money on bad loans/workout situations and are not profit drivers. Compared to IB they do much more lending/ABLs and WLB is much more volatile as they often get called into deals and need to come up with solutions quickly. Culture is good and many don't exit but if you're interested in RX/distressed might be better to try and start a career elsewhere. Don't know if they have a direct pipeline to the group but would assume it's tied very closely with the credit teams.
