What is your current MD like?
Title says it all, anyone have strong relationships with their MDs? If so, how did you get to that level in the relationship?
If not, hardo MD stories are appreciated as well
I am (fortunately/unfortunately depending on the day) the go to execution guy for one of our SMDs. We are now in the "you're my boy blue" phase.
The trajectory of our relationship over a few years was "you don't exist" -> "I will mildly acknowledge your presence" -> "you may answer questions that come up" -> "I will do the intro, you do the rest" -> "here is a deal, if client bothers me, you've failed" -> today. So slow slow grind to get to where we are today. He is a lone wolf, super low maintenance ("if you can't win it in 10 slides, you're not going to win") and is the a biblical flood of rainmaking at my firm. The only criteria he judges against is delivering consistent results.

He's great, like a fat, halitosis and psoriasis riddled version of my dad. Super smart, really patient, and a very "good ol' boy" type of humor, which I dig. Also, we share a love for regional food and getting into the nitty gritty of our sector. I really enjoy working with him.
