What I've learned on Wallstreetoasis.com

Any bank that is not a top bulge bracket or elite boutique sucks and the people working there are losers

People working for a prestigious firm who spend 100+ hours a day on a computer are "fucking ballers"

Goldman Sachs beats out anything no matter what because ITS FREAKING Goldman Sachs. GS TMT is the closest thing to God

Private equity is the end all and be all of existence. You measure a man's worth by their position x the ranking of their firm on Prequin

Exit OPPORTUNITIES!!!!!!

People in medicine and teaching are LOSERS who couldn't hack it on wall street and had to find a job that is critical to our future and requires tremendous skill and compassion...ewwwwwwww

It's more important to work for a prestigious group than like the people or the industry you're working with (who cares lol?)

A job that brings you $120K a year as a first year punk out of college is shit because the company rhymes with Mefferies of Jiper Paffray (the shame!)

Learning finance and accounting in college is soooo much more important than having an education that teaches you how to think and process information in an intelligent way. If you don't know your 10Ks by senior year, who cares if you can defend an argument, you don't deserve to work in finance

Seriously though, this site has been tremendously helpful. Thanks for all the advice, I couldn't have gotten my internships and jobs without you, but sometimes WSO you have to calm down

nb84You're really fortunate that you figured all of this out now. It takes non-WSO people 2-3 years to get on board.

Post of the week. So true. +1

It sounds like you have stumbled onto some of the many rules of what I like to call........THE GAME.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

boutiquebank4life works at a no-name regional boutique, so he's probably a 2 on the WSO prestige-o-meter.
Additionally, the "hating on Jefferies days" are pretty much over. They are making moves and many would choose them over some BBs.

And for the record, Piper Jaffray is not prestigious, but still cooler than B4life. lol

Note: I work BO at Piper

A lot of the people here need a reality check. Apart from the Cert Users and some smart prospectives it's a whole bunch of college kids in the middle of recruiting with no real experience willing to regurgitate whatever they've heard.

Agreed that the site's incredibly informative though.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
