I recently graduated school and am currently working at a startup We only do private placements, putting in minimum 10% of needed funds. I research the companies.

Maybe equity capital provider? Seems like you guys aren't interested in a controlling interest so not PE. More like a service provider for capital raising where you collect a fee on the capital raise but then you're also one of the investors.
When you say you "do" private placements, are you guys just an investor or do you find other sources of capital for the company as well?
