I managed to land an IB internship this summer, but I have nothing to do do in Fall, Winter or Spring. What other internships in a different field is similar to IB that will help me learn more towards my IB career? I was considering looking around for part time positions at boutiques banks, but that might difficult to come by.
What do you guys think would help me later in a career in IB? Only reason I need one is because I always work part-time with school for all my bills. I don't want to backtrack and work retail after I have IB experience under my belt.
I also have a positional internship for fall lined up at MS in their Private Wealth Management sector, but that won't help me for IB.

I would think there are a few boutique firms there. Start reaching out now before other students take the spots for fall/winter/spring. You can also check your school's career center/Handshake website to see if there are any IB opportunities for the next school year
I just created a spread sheet of all the Boutiques in the Chicago area. There were a little over 100 it looked like. Im going to shoot them all emails and cold call to see if they are looking for work in the Fall, Spring or Winter.
Nothing for the next school year has been posted yet, sadly.
If you reach out now then I think you have a very good chance of getting an internship at one of them. Especially if you go to a target school in the area
I sure hope so! I don't go to a target school. A lot of the students in my school got into IB still with a lot of work as opposed to target schools have to put in. At least one of the 100 should hopefully hire me given I have IB and PE experience under my belt.

Yes it will actually help you. That will demonstrate your interest in the financial sector and you will most likely learn a whole lot being around people in the industry. Sometimes getting in with a big name PWM firm is a great stepping stone if you want to eventually get into IB. There is no perfect route to take, but definitely keep it in mind.
