What Position?!?!

I have always wanted to go the IB route but people say its tough getting a position especially since the markets are not looking too good right about now.

I recently discovered that someone I know is pretty high up at a tech firm (think Google, Yahoo). I mean high up enough that news organisations and newspapers quote him. (I found this out after I googled his name)

My problem is as a business major (accounting) I dont know what position to ask him for. I dont want to be thrown into some payroll job which probably fits the stereotype right? And also if i manage to land the position, does this look good for B-School application, or am I better of putting all my efforts trying to get an IB job?
