What position in a BB can help you the most for recruitment?

I am a sophomore, and I want to try for a couple BB's with boutiques and MMs next semester during recruitment season. I happen to have an associate level connection in a BB that I want to try for, and I was wondering how much he could help me out.

Is there usually a GPA cap for BB's?
And is it fair game to try to use the influence of associates? or do they have not so much influence in referrals?

The GPA cap is likely 4.0. If you're asking about a GPA floor, there is usually no set rule, though typically unless you have outrageous connections, your minimum GPA needs to be about 3.5.

Anything is fair game in banking recruiting (within reason). The usage of your network is not only fair but highly recommended. Associate-level connections are good in that they, or a VP, may be the ones handling the recruitment process. So they have a good shot of at least including your resume in the interview list. Beyond that, their influence is a lot more limited.
