What schools do IB firms in Miami recruit from?

Hey Everyone,

New to the forum and wanted fellow monkeys' insights. I know the list of schools for NYC IB firms, but wanted to know if there was other schools that were more heavily recruited from in Miami. Is it the same list? Or do people from UF and University of Miami have the biggest advantage because of proximity? Any other schools that have big pull there? Looking for first hand knowlege or people that know of analysts and associates that work at IB firms there. Thank you!

There are a few lower middle market shops in South Florida and a couple LatAm focused ones in Miami. I know one always gets interns from the University of Miami, but for the most part all these small shops recruit throuh inbound resumes and dont really have structured hiring practices. Sure being in close proximity helps, but its not like they have target schools.

Ah okay! Thanks for your help everyone! I was worried about the Spanish requirement but it makes sense. My next question I guess is, what determines what cities have investment banking? Why does a small city like Charlotte have heavy IB but a big city like Miami doesn’t? Is it just because when Wells Fargo bought Wachovia, their ib division was there? What other cities besides NYC and Charlotte have ib?
