what should I do in this situation?

Hi, I recently went through three rounds of interviews w/ 10+ ppl in the team for an off-cycle junior level position. However, I haven't heard back for a week. What's worse, when asked about the timeline, the HR said she didn't know either. How would you guys interpret this, and what should I do at this point? I am not sure whether waiting will be the best thing to do, as I actually may have other opps overseas and if things are not working out at this firm, I would like to leave the country asap. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

A week really isn't that long but if you need an answer call someone you connected with and ask them what is going on. Mention you have an offer from another firm overseas and would like an answer soon. Just be polite and direct.

Firms can really drag their feet when they plan on interviewing a bunch of candidates. Also if they're adding to headcount they are mostly likely busy with regular work. I personally got an offer 4 weeks after my last interview for a MM IB position, at which time I was sure they'd passed on me. I'd wait another week at least.

Whiskey5:

reach out with an e-mail again mid next week. hr is really on top of their game (hah, not really) during regular recruiting season. offcycle is usually a shit show

Thanks Whiskey5. Just a follow-up, do you think I should approach the HR or the interviewer directly? I am concerned that given what she said, the decision may be out of the HR's hand, so she won't be able to answer my question and my frequent email to her might be read as annoying. thanks.
