what to do if i banks don't come on your campus to recruit?

hi all, I really want to do a summer internship at an ib but they don't do interviews on my campus. I started early in my applications to many firms, and wanted to find out what i can do to increase my chances to getting an interview and a summer intern with them. I will be contacting my mentor to network with some alumni's at these firms so what would be appropriate to ask them. Also would be ok if i ask them to forward my resume to the recruiter at their firm? I'm currently a sophomore and really really want to get an intern. Also my major is engineering and not finance with a 3.7 gpa from syracuse uni. thank you.

  1. Finance students at Syracuse cant get IB internships, let alone an Engineering student
  2. Finance recruiting is really hurting this year, only accounting is doing anything
  3. IB's recruited for back office stuff last year, not even that this year.

Options? Either transfer into something top 20 (10 is better) and do finance or do a hell of a lot of networking. I went to Syracuse and know a couple people who got into IB/trading/PE, etc. They were all top finance kids with a lot of networking and/or hook ups. Best of luck!
