What to do now?

Would like a bit of advice on how I should approach this summer. In short, I don't have an IBD summer internship.

Basically, I'm in my first year if a two year long master's in finance at a top European business school. Prior to this, I studied an undergraduate degree in chemistry. I knew pretty early into my undergraduate that I would like to switch into something finance-y, and did an internship at a leading private debt fund (summer 2019). I graduated with good grades in May and had my eyes set on a banking internship this summer.

Given my solid grade, internship and current business school I thought I would be able to get an IBD summer analyst position in some capacity and focussed all of my internship applications on banking (about 40 apps). However, this has not been the case. It's nearly December and I have no offers or anything remotely hopeful.

As a result of focussing so heavily on banking, I have missed the boat on other roles in the BBs for the most part. I'm really not sure what I should do. Getting a solid experience or at least a good brand name on my CV this summer is pretty important but I'm not sure how it will even be possible at this stage.

I've only studied finance for two months, so it takes me so long to get up to speed with what other roles entail and makes it very time consuming to research and apply.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm definitely still looking to get into banking when I graduate in 2022 but I'll see how possible that is when the time comes around.

Thanks !
