What to do with Data Analytics and Econ Degree besides IB? (I'm an incoming BB SA)

I'll be at a bulge bracket this summer for an IB internship. I've realized within the last year though that I like data analytics a lot--this past summer when I was at another BB (not for IB though) I spent a lot of time running regressions on financial data and looking through academic literature. I was trying to find and use quantitative ways to analyze a company's competitive moats and forecast revenues and costs.

I was slightly disillusioned by my internship because we weren't doing this kind of analysis on companies, and I'm wondering if there's an opportunity out there that fits me better. I'm not really a quant--my calculus is a bit rusty to be honest--but I like doing quantitative data-driven analysis to get a company's fundamentals.

I'm wondering if I should go to consulting, but from what I've heard they're all about their power points, not about analyzing the data. Hedge funds are great and all but I'm wondering if there's something else. Do y'all know of something I could do that might fit my interests more?
