When is the slowest time of the year? Do you get extended time off?

How much time do you get off for the holiday season? Christmas? A couple days? A week? Are other times of the year less busy, and thus, can you take off a few days off? If so, what time of the year is that? Is Labor day (weekend) particularly slow?

Assuming these answers are highly dependant on the level of the position you hold, I would love it if you could share your job title too.

Over the past 6 months or so, the only time I have noticed that multiple people I knew had time off was around labor day. Is deal flow particularly slow around then?

I'm taking two days after Boxing day to get the full 21/12-2/1 vacation. My team is on a live deal, but there won't be any management presentation or such over Christmas. I'm available on mail and will bring my computer with me, but I don't expect to work much.

Summer holidays are very group dependent. You usually have to be at work during June/early July when the intern join, if you are junior. When bank holidays fall on Thu/Fri, it is usually accepted to take an extra day or two. The same goes for Easter.

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.

I'd venture to say the vacation culture in the UK is vastly superior to NYC though

Definitely. I have friends who joined US BBs that have spent public holidays, Christmas and New Years in a cubicle. I only have anecdotal evidence, but the general work/life balance seems to be substantially better in London vs NY.

Associate.

I've worked Christmas Eve each of the last three years (two in PE and one in banking). Thankfully, it looks like this year will be more reasonable.
