Where to Travel before analyst stint
Never been out of the country and planning to travel for 1-1.5 months this upcoming May/June. Will be a combination of 1-2 friends and presumably some solo. Was thinking of Europe as I don't have much travel experience.
Would love to hear any must-see places, experiences, or general tips you guys have for traveling abroad. Thanks!
Just checked it out, looks sweet
If you time it where you can test positive and have 14 days before your start date (so you aren’t jeopardizing your start day due to quarantine requirements) I would say Costa Rica, Barcelona, and if things get better and open up do HK / Japan / Seoul (doubt you could do the latter though any time soon)
Spain:
Madrid, Toledo and Andalusia region. Just beautiful.
Please make sure to enter the McDonald's in Plaza Central in Madrid.
If budget is an issue you can get very good value in slightly lesser known places in Europe which are still as nice as anywhere else.
Greece outside of Athens and the Islands can be very cheap and you cover most bases (beaches, culture, food etc) and some Greek Islands are cheaper than others (I would personally rather 4-5 days on a less touristy island to 2 days on Mykonos especially if I was with friends.)
Realistically most cities in Western Europe can be done in a week on holiday leave later on so I wouldnt bother with Paris or London or Amsterdam.
Spain is another good option I've seen people talk about but I would try to avoid the South because it gets busy and expensive in Summer months although you might be ok.
If want to go somewhere outside of Europe I loved Turkey and Sri Lanka but the latter is a bit out of the way.
Finally if you do want to try and do it 'all' in western Europe which can be great fun too I'd reccomended buying a Eurail pass (or whatever it goes by these days) and hit Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Munich, Milan and Rome. A good tip I found is to always go for the sleeper train if possible because you dont lose a day and get 'free' or significantly cheaper accommodation.
Eurail pass seems like the move, thanks for the insight!
