Which IBs are still accepting internship applications?
I know it is long past the recruiting season, but are there still any smaller firms either in US or overseas (UK, australia etc.) that is still accepting summer internship applications?

Your best bet is to target the smaller banks in and around cities like NYC,SF,LA that do not have formal internship programs.
Try to contact your alumni at the smaller boutiques, that is your best bet. It's all networking and hustle from here on.

ML was doing first rounds a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if they still are or not.
At this point it definitely helps if you mention "will work for free, want to learn"
I know i'm at real disadvantage, but still I can't work for free. At least i need to pay for rent, food etc.
You should definitely take out a loan if, when all is said and done, you have an offer for the summer that happens to be unpaid. Just because you go to Stanford doesn't mean you are invincible to the possible stigma of a kid who did nothing relevant his junior year summer.
