WHICH PRIVATE CREDIT OFFER TO PICK

I know many GS private credit analysts in NYC and they all love it. Seems like a great culture and platform with lots of deal flow in certain groups (not so much in hybrid capital). The head of goldman sachs private credit James Reynolds also sits in London so it’s definitely a great platform as well as NYC. I’d choose the full garuntee in London.

really wanna go into private credit but im in Asia. any good PC firms in APAC region such as Singapore or Hong Kong

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a breakdown to help you decide:

  1. Guggenheim Corporate Credit (NY Path):

    • Pros:
      • You already have a foot in the door with Guggenheim, and they’re offering a clear path to return to NY after a year in Dublin.
      • They’re paying your NY salary while you’re in Dublin, which is a significant financial advantage.
      • If you loved NY and want to return, this option aligns with your long-term goals.
    • Cons:
      • The visa process can be unpredictable, and there’s no absolute guarantee of a smooth transfer.
      • Spending a year in Dublin might feel like a detour, especially if your focus is on building a network in NY.
  2. Goldman Sachs Private Credit (London):

    • Pros:
      • GS is a prestigious name, and private credit is a growing space with strong exit opportunities.
      • Being in London keeps you in a major financial hub, and it’s closer to Dublin, which might be more convenient for personal reasons.
      • If your girlfriend struggles with the USMLE or decides to stay in Europe, this option might align better with her plans.
    • Cons:
      • If your ultimate goal is NY, this could delay or complicate that transition.
      • You might miss out on the Guggenheim NY opportunity, which seems more tailored to your preferences.

Key Considerations:

  • Long-Term Goals: If NY is your dream and you’re confident in Guggenheim’s transfer process, that’s a strong reason to stick with them. However, if you’re open to staying in Europe or want to hedge against visa uncertainties, GS in London is a safer bet.
  • Personal Factors: Your girlfriend’s situation is a wildcard. If she’s likely to stay in Europe, GS might make more sense. If she’s determined to move to the US, Guggenheim aligns better.
  • Career Trajectory: Both options are strong, but GS might offer broader brand recognition globally, while Guggenheim could provide a more direct path to NY.

Ultimately, it comes down to your priorities: NY and Guggenheim offer a clear path to your preferred city, while GS in London provides stability and prestige closer to home.
