Why Are There So Few White Guys at UK Spring Weeks?

I am a UK student who recruited for spring weeks this year and just wanted to share something I have noticed.

From my own experience at my spring week, and from what I have seen from friends and LinkedIn photos of the various cohorts, the vast majority of spring week participants at most firms seem to be South Asian students (mainly a mix of Indian and Pakistani), especially among the men.

Most springs also seem to have around 50/50 gender quotas in place.

At my spring week there were about 40 or so people and literally only four white guys.
Which I found really odd considering that around 80 percent of the UK population is white.
Even factoring in that women are 50 percent of the cohort, white guys should realistically be around 40 percent of the intake, maybe even a bit more because more men tend to apply for these roles.

Yet the actual number seemed way lower.

Even among the women, the majority seemed to be South Asian.
There were also noticeably more black women than black men across the cohort.

I have also been to a fair number of insight days and those tend to have a lot more international students overall, but even then the white guy proportion is usually around 40 to 60 percent.

So why is there such a massive disparity when it comes to spring weeks specifically?

Just something I noticed and thought was odd.
