Hi, I’m a freshman in college and have always been set on majoring in finance but lately I’ve been questioning my decision because of chatGBT and other AI’s becoming public. My question is, what do people in the industry think about AI and how will it change their job. Do y’all think AI will eventually take y’all’s job? Or do y’all think majoring in finance is still a smart decision? Thank you all for your opinion.

I believe that AI will take a lot of the lower level modeling, trading, and back office work. You will still need a human to oversee the AI. A human will always be required to build relationships at the higher levels as well, but I think the world will look a lot different in 10-15 years - banking included. People will have to learn how to skill stack and find their unique edge to be competitive in any market. If a monkey can do your job, then AI will definitely do your job better.
