Will I have my ft return revoked?

Recently completed my SA at a BB in London and got the return offer, however the offer is conditional on me getting a 2:1, I've already graduated annoyingly with a 2:2 doing a difficult degree and have some serious extenuating circumstances around exam season this year.

Was wondering if this grade requirement will be strictly enforced and what I should do as my next steps? Not sure whether waiting until I am asked to submit grades and then informing my firm is the best play or if I should just try get out ahead of it and send an email explaining all my extenuating circumstances and plead for leniency.

Thanks in advance

Won’t lie it doesn’t look good. Best option is to hope the team really liked you and be open about it now so you can have clarity early and can apply around for other jobs if you have to.

You may get away with it if your team really likes you and pushes for you despite everything - or if you’re doing something that isn’t IBD/S&T/ER

The MDs all really liked me and were the ones who pushed for me to get a return offer but yea it is one of those 3 industries

Tbh IBD BB seems hard because HR will do a lot of it - if you have an MD you have a really casual relationship with it could be helpful mentioning the situation and any extenuating circumstances and ask for their advice - really hoping they’ll push for you. If they like you enough to bend the rules you could have a shot.

Either way I’d recommend you try to get clarity as soon as possible so you can move on if you have to. Could also ask them if they would consider taking you in after a masters if you then get a merit and meet their requirements or something.

Quick update

Had a call with HR who said they'll have a discussion internally and consider the circumstances that I submitted, any idea what my odds are/behind the scenes process looks like given I have reasonably strong circumstances and they did mention while they have a grade requirement they want to take into account extenuating circumstances.

Hi, I’m awaiting my degree results but I think I will be in a similar position … may I ask, what happened in the end?

hahahaha this is what happens when they give IB internships to useless people while others get firsts in extremely hard degrees and still cannot get an offer
fuck HR and their DEI processes
