Will it shine again on investment banks?

Hi monkeys,
I've been discussing whether the investment banking will recover its glorious name since only few of people say yes around me.
It seems obvious that it is going through hard time these days for countless regulations and doubt of the people.
It became hard for monkeys starting from the bottom to be the rich compared to the past and therefore some of the students around me who had prepared for going in there began to change their ways.
How do you think about the future of IBs?

I hope you're applying to IB gigs outside of the US/UK because your English sucks.

My god, that was a harsh reply.

I think one has to realize that every industry has its booms and busts. Certainly, these discussions about the future of the investment banking industry must have existed during some bad years in the 80s and early 90s. In the aftermath of the dotcom bubble, several pundits proclaimed that the VC industry was dead. It had a few really bad years but it bounced back.

@Raptor.45 I'd accept your comment as an 'advice' to encourage myself study English harder. Thanks. @Kejsaren Were there harsh regulations like those made on IB at then? I mean, at least people ouside weren't furious of dotcom bubble; but they are when it comes to the Wall Street.

The financial sector is cyclical - read Keynes and especially Minsky and they'll point out how the financial sector actually causes volatility in the markets and the business cycles over the long run. My interpretation from that is the financial sector will most likely bounce between regulated and unregulated.
