Will learning modeling on your own help you land a first round interview?

Will learning modeling on your own using tools like Breaking Into Wall Street help you land a first round interview with a bank? I know that knowing the concepts behind them well helps you prepare for the actual interview, but do they in any way help you get your foot in the door during recruitment? Also if they do help, what is the best way to leverage having learned modeling through Breaking Into Wall Street?
