Wolf of Wall Street vs. Reality: Anyone else feel scammed by the movies?
Grew up watching Wolf of Wall Street, Wall Street (Gekko), Margin Call, The Big Short — the whole saga. Now that I’m about to enter the real world (corporate/banking law, not trading), I’ve got a genuine question: how much of that trading-floor-screaming, cocaine-party, shark-MD culture still exists in 2026, or did that die with Dodd-Frank and compliance? Analysts with 2+ years in — give me the unfiltered version. What surprised you the most vs. what you expected from the movies?
That died in the 80s little bro. When I was on the trading floor at the start of my career 25 years ago, we had beers after work on Fridays (sometimes a lot) and that was it.
Or maybe you weren't invited, nerd
