Women's Work Bag (Not Totes)

Does anyone have recommendations on a women's work bag, that isn't a tote? I really don't like totes for bags because they always slip off my shoulder, and get heavy with my lunch/gym clothes/laptop etc. Are there any recommendations for a backpack style work bag for women? Or will I be committing a faux pas? NY BB AN1

Based on the most helpful WSO content, backpacks can be a practical and stylish alternative to totes, especially if you're carrying heavier items like a laptop, lunch, and gym clothes. While some might argue that backpacks aren't as formal, they are becoming more accepted in professional settings, particularly if you choose a sleek, minimalist design.

Here are some recommendations:

  1. Cuyana - Known for their beautiful and functional designs, they offer options that are both professional and practical.
  2. Longchamp - While their totes are popular, they also have backpack options that are lightweight and durable.
  3. Everlane - Offers modern, structured backpacks that are work-appropriate and come in neutral colors.
  4. Tumi - A classic choice for professionals, their backpacks are high-quality and designed for functionality.
  5. Dagne Dover - Known for their organizational features, they have stylish backpacks that work well for the office.

If you're concerned about committing a faux pas, consider the culture of your office. In NYC BB settings, it's always a good idea to observe what others are using and take cues from them. A well-chosen backpack with clean lines and a neutral color can blend seamlessly into a professional environment.
