would this effect staffings?

first year here 2 weeks on the desk. i was the only person in my analyst class to not summer analyst at the bank or intern in ib at all. i am noticing that the other analysts (who all interned at the group and bank) are all getting way more projects and more meaningful assignments. would this be expected and is normal or theres most likely another reason why? (i sucked at what i was given already, etc)
