WSO Academy: Waitlist Open

WSO Community - we've reopened the waitlist for WSO Academy.  The next cohort is filled but we do have some space (for now) in our July 17 and August 7 cohorts.

We expect to open applications in ~1-2 weeks once we work through the set of existing applications.

Good luck!

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Would this be worth applying to if you’re looking to transition banks from summer to full time? Since that’s a different recruitment process, and those spots are largely “as needed,” would this program help me to take a step up in what bank or group I go full time with? Or, maybe even do a transition to PE full-time?

I wouldn't sign up if you already have an IB internship and are just trying to leverage the academy to land at a better bank/group since I think a lot of that will be out of your control no matter how strong you are as a candidate.

If you are signing up because you want to prep early for PE recruiting it's very easy for us to modify what we do for IB into an academy focused on PE since most of our 25 head mentors currently in the program have both IB and a PE background...  so in that case, I would say it's very valuable.  We don't market it for PE since we are so busy servicing our IB hopefuls, but we'd have no problem making you a lot more competitive in PE with the team in place.

Hopefully that helps!

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Are students applying to opportunities in London eligible for this program? Secondly, is this a paid programme, or is this more akin to a scholarship?

Any rough estimate what is the tuition fee for the program? Could not find any info regarding this on the website

Hi Patrick,

Is WSO Academy only for Undergrad/Grad students wanting to get into Analyst/Associate roles or is it also for someone already in early career finance (not high finance) looking to make it into IB/PE?

We have accepted candidates that have graduated and are not in high finance but are knowledgeable and confident that is what they want to do. From there, we help give them an honest assessment and game plan... Many times that involves a conversation of possibly needing a masters to reset /rebrand.

Hey patrick, would this be worth applying if Im still in high school? I have obtained a lot of IB knowledge online and I’m confident with IB. I want to het a head start and begin my journey early?

We have worked with high school seniors that are very motivated but I'd wait until you are at least a senior and know what college you are attending before enrolling...  The way we see it for our students in the Academy is

  • senior yr in high school is early
  • anytime freshman yr or early Fall sophomore year - "on time"
  • Spring sophomore -> senior = late

Hi Patrick,
Would you recommend to apply if I am currently transferring between schools (incoming sophomore from non-target to a semi-target)? Thank you so much in advance!
