2 year rotational programs

I know a popular avenue is from a summer analyst program to the corresponding 2 year rotational program at Citi, JPM, and GS. Does anyone have any experience with them? Does it pay to do it or if you’re knowledgeable and ambitious should you just go for a regular analyst / associate position?
