2024 On-Cycle vs. Off-cycle

Hello all,

I’ve recently been reached out to by some headhunters for 2024 on-cycle and have read that this usually means the process can start soon. I have always been interested in PE as an opportunity after my current role but have not had any material exposure to deals as training ended recently. I would be interested in MF/UMM firms (at top BB in good group) but don’t feel as if I’d know exactly what I’d want in terms of fit.

Are placements at MF/UMM available in off-cycle? Would it be viable to recruit for 2025 on-cycle after having some more experience or is the on-cycle recruiting typically for 1st year analysts?

Not too sure how to play this out so I appreciate any help
