2024 Summer Internship - Do I need to search already?

Hi all,

I'm a current sophomore entering the summer of 2023 with a big 4 internship. I'm studying econ in a target school with a goal of either going into RX, Consulting, or Asset Managmenet. My GPA is around 3.7 and my end goal is working in a boutique or bb by the time I graduate in 2025. Previous work experiences include FA in my freshman year, and of course my internship in my sophomore year soon to be.

Recently, people around me have been talking about how they're been job-searching for Summer Internships in 2024, and how applications have already opened. I've been curious as to whether I need to be searching for an internship right now, or wait until at least I've completed my internship this summer before updating my resume and sending in applications.

My worry is that if I apply right now companies might be like wtf is this kid doing applying without even doing his sophomore job, and if I apply later it might be too late.

Yes, you need to apply NOW. There are firms which already started first rounds and some that already gave offers

It is the norm to apply before doing sophomore summer, you need to start as soon as possible. Good luck

2024 SA recruiting is pretty much wrapped up at this point, non-diversity/non-target 2025 SA is in the later stages with superdays/2nd rounds and 2026 SA is kicking off soon with diversity/target intro calls & first rounds, if you're target/diversity I would delay graduation 2 years so you can recruit in time for 2026 SA, if not then look to do big 4/audit then lateral
