3 month interview

I was hoping one of you pros out there can help me out with my situation.

So it started around early December, when i did a phone interview for this startup private equity group.

Convo was great, and was invited for an in person interview in New York in jan. The in-person interview was even better, and it seemed like they really wanted me to join.

After the interview, sent out my thank you letters as usual, and received responses from all the partners I've interviewed with. A few days later, i received an email from the HR, saying that they are still conducting interviews and will get back to me as soon as they can. (I did not reach out to HR)

Early February rolls along and was told by a partner that they are still interviewing. Now its march, and still no word. Followed up with HR and no response.

Does this mean I'm dinged?

Probably means you're on the fence or a reserve to someone they extended an offer to. If they knew you were the guy, they would have voiced that already, no? I would follow up with a few of the guys you had the best connection with and really express how badly you want it and how qualified you are.

I was in a similar situation once. Went through first round followed by in person interview without any issues and HR tells me that we will be in contact. No word for a couple weeks before I get an e-mail essentially saying that we like you but we think we can do better; we still want to keep you under consideration.
