accounting guy with with IT interview

ok so my company has an IT program that will allow me to train for 18 months at various IT segments and eventually get placed in one of the IT aspects. The thing is, I wanna stay in business. The First interview I was told I'd probably be moved to Hyperion aspect of IT due to my accounting background. What would be a realistic exist option? are accounting guys with IT experience valuable?
