Addressing mail to HR?
Hey guys,
I'm trying to apply for an SA position at a bank that has no website, I don't know the name of anyone in HR so should I just address it to HR? I know the name of the president and an MD, would it be wise to address it to them or is this a big no no?
You can direct it to "Dear Hiring Manager" if you don't have any further information. It's best not to address a president or MD if they aren't the point in contact or you haven't spoken to them before.
A) note that yacht_man has 481 points and is just applying to SA positions... B) I agree with the above, either dear hiring manager or to whom it may concern should be appropriate. If you haven't ever spoken with the MD or president I wouldn't address it to them.
What's that gotta do with anything? :s
Maybe Yacht_man just likes to ask a lot of questions or has invited a lot of friends to the site...
Anyways, no one will discredit your application for addressing the letter to the "Hiring Manager" or "Recruiting Director" or some variation of that. Same goes for if you're sending a physical letter -- they'll know where to direct it.
I would be concerned with any bank that doesn't have a website.
