advice on following up after phone conversation

Hey guys,

I'm a sophomore and I recently was contacted by a member of a small Asset Management team at a top BB about an interning there this summer. We talked for probably around 5 minutes and then he asked me to forward him my resume and he would be in touch with me. I know that everyone says that any contact is an "interview," but our conversation was pretty informal and he didn't really ask me too much about myself, instead just asking for the resume. This occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

I'm pretty impatient and want to reach out to him and emphasize my interest in the internship and the ambition and dedication I would bring to his team. I was thinking about waiting until tomorrow afternoon and then calling. When should I? Should I give him time or will a relatively prompt follow up impress him?
