Advice required - No Spring Weeks

Hello there,

I am in a bit of a difficult situation when it comes to Spring Weeks. I have not been able to secure any so far and I need advice from WSO. I did manage to get 1 non-Hirevue interview for a spring week and I was pleased that I managed to make it past a Hirevue. Overall, I have managed to learn a lot and it has been a learning experience.

Is there anything that anyone here can recommend that I can do in order to have a shot at summer internships? I have tried, and I am still trying, to go for society positions within my university. Furthermore, I have tried to obtain some form of relevant work experience from local firms via cold emailing; unfortunately this has not worked either.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it a lot. I have emailed some local accounting firms and other financial advisors/planners locally. I will try harder. Thanks again.

I second this. Try cold emailing smaller boutique firms across London asking for experience over the summer - have seen many students do this after their first year of university. Also try to gain any other experiences whether it be societies or extra-curricular to help boost your CV

Not the end of the world - focus on what you need to possibly improve on for summer internships and make sure you're prepared for when 2024 summer programmes open. Perhaps start learning technicals or about what other divisions and teams there are across IB and finance since there are a lot more opportunities for summers than for springs

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it a lot. Trying to get society positions and stuff. I have been doing the WSO courses and I may do FMVA over the summer if I don’t get an internship or something. I have cold emailed boutique companies. I will follow them up.
