If all they are doing is getting their resumes forwarded, then ask for a phone call. If they are getting phone calls, try to get one and impress the alumni more than they did. Find new alumni? cast a wider net at different banks and get their first?

Gekko and Zeropower pretty much sum it up. Vince Lombardi's first meeting with the Green Bay Packer's bore the famous quote: “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
The issue of saturation is just an excuse. If everyone else is contacting alumni, do it better than them. Do it more than them. When Lombardi was wrecking shop as a head coach he wasn't running different plays than other coaches. He was doing the same plays as them only better. It's about executing better than the competition.
