Any banks hiring laterals?

Having a lot of difficulties getting a buyside role post layoff even though coming from a top group in finance with strong references. Given that I need a job, I decided to go back to banking but having difficulties finding a place that is hiring.

You're in a tough spot. Laid off analysts don't have much helpful experience. And relative to a laid off associate, it seems more likely you were let go because of performance on easy stuff than a personality conflict or something.

I don't know why you only targeted buyside. Youre not in a position to be picky. I would spam virtually every financial institution in America and network like a madman until you find a bid. The responses here shouldn't change your approach.

I been also targeting Corp development roles and anything in strategic finance. I just wanted to get some color regarding the current lateral market!

I also don’t particularly think people are viewing as such a big negative given the current market conditions. The only issue has been with head hunters not helping me out after I disclosed the lay off, but besides them the interviews that I had didn’t care much about the layoffs. Unfortunately, seems like competition is a bit tough rn as I keep getting dinged in the final rounds.

Pretty quiet right now--keep an eye out late June/early July... I had interviews at senior level corp dev role; lateral interviews at 4 banks; 2 buyside (HF) firms; and 1 LBO PE firm. crickets the past 1-2 months. Market is tight right now and I think the whole SVB/CS/first republic shenanigans spooked everyone
